The tiny white switch at the bottom of the handset is a physical disconnect switch for the RUSP microphone. ...so "Big Brother" can't hear you, even when "they" tell you he's not listening (like with the Nest thermostats).

Good idea! The ability to dial DTMF tones during an active call is a required feature to be able use the RUSP with phone menus.

If the PTFE rods were cut too short it's likely that the Governor weights would move farther out and possibly rub against the sides of its depression in the Back Bearing Pad on the Daughterboard. Re. wrong numbers appearing during dialing... You may want to verify that the lobe of the Cam Gear is touching the limit switch's roller ("Rotary Mechanism" step 6) during assembly. The lobe's position is easy to miss and/or slip out of alignment while scrunching the Mother and Daughter Bo...

I had a similar problem which caused severe misalignment of the dial mechanism downstream. The problem appears to be that the diameter of the hole in the Faceboard may be too small to allow the Front Bearing Pad to seat flush with the Faceboard.
