Finally got my kit -- blew the battery trying to install it.

I know you're already aware of how bad this is implemented, but I still have to say: you have got to be kidding me! "Shove the wires in the hole and hope for the best" on a critical component seems like more than an oversight.

I did it like the instructions said, one at a time. Twist and bend the wires so that they're thick enough to catch. "Once they're in you can't pull them back out." I beg to differ. They slipped right out, then wire memory shoved the black and red together into a dead short, killing the battery. I got 0 on the volt meter. :(

I ordered four replacements because I can absolutely see this happening again. I know y'all have been doing your absolute best, but there's no way this should have been sent out without an actual battery connector. I think I'm going to try to solder them to some pins and shove the pins in.

Anyone else got tips for making this work?

That is really unfortunate, but good to know before I receive a kit. Do you have any photos you can share of the connection?

I had a hard time with this also. I kept the plastic cover on the end of whichever wire I wasn't actively installing in the connector until I gave up and straightened it out, tinned it with solder, then reinstalled; that held well. I recommend if you've got a soldering iron that you simply do that instead of trying to fold it over like the instructions suggest; it'll have a more firm feel right away.
