ATmega board type & Clock

Post by aflynn73 »

Got the kit and got it assembled. I went to poke around in the firmware and ran into a couple snags.

The Development Supplement indicates an ATmega1280 with an External 16MHz clock. When attempting to upload, I got the error: "connected part ATmega2560 differs in signature from -p ATmega1280." I think another user ran into this here: viewtopic.php?p=455#p455

I changed the board selection to ATmega2560 and uploaded without issue, but then the serial monitor turned to garbage. After some trial and error, it appears that the clock reference is 7.3728MHz.

P.S. If I have somehow cooked myself or my RUSP, and the board and clock in the Development Supplement are correct, please help me uncook myself
