Mallet does not engage the bell

Hiya,

Just got my kit in the mail this weekend and I've been playing around trying to get it to work. I have a number of issues, but I'll try to post about each one individually.

The first issue is that the bell mallet does not engage with the bell when ringing. At first, I thought I had aligned it incorrectly, but it does seem to swing back and forth when a call is incoming, just not enough to get close to the bell. When I disassembly the bell and hold it close enough, it doesn't really ring. I'm thinking that the components aren't giving it enough power to swing far enough. Any thoughts on what could be affecting it?
